Elkader Fitness Inc. was developed with community support, labor and donations to provide an area for healthful exercise. It features a gym floor, weight room and cardio area.
Elkader Fitness Inc.’s mission is: To provide recreational, social and educational enrichment opportunities through quality programs and services at a reasonable cost to members and the community.
Use of Elkader Fitness is available with an annual membership or with a daily visitor’s fee. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Members & Visitors are given a keycode for the entry security system. Please contact the following if you need a code to use the Fitness Center:

This road/trail race is a 5k/10k through historic downtown Elkader and along the Pony Hollow Trail which runs parallel to the beautiful Turkey River and Robert’s Creek. We have decided to move the race to Friday night. This will mean runners can enjoy the music and fireworks in downtown Elkader afterwards
Exciting news! We are also adding chip timing by Trekman Racing. Pre-registration here,on our website will begin shortly. Early bird pricing will be available at that time. Participants can also register the day of race.
Registration is at 5:30 PM
Race Time is 6:30 PM at the corner of Main and Boardman on the south side of Elkader.

INSTRUCTOR: Investigator Brent Ostrander, an eleven year law enforcement officer currently with the Clayton County Sheriff’s. Ostrander is the county’s lead defensive tactics instructor with additional instructor certifications in ASP expandable baton, OC spray, handcuffing, and tactical fitness.

This eight-week program designed for women and men ages 16 and older will provide you with the knowledge to:
• Build situational awareness
• Build confidence
• Learn avoidance, escape, and counter attack techniques
• Perform basic defense moves
The purpose of this class is to instill a WINNING mindset preparing participants for violent encounters. We want to enable you to identify potential threats while maintaining a mind set to confidently control a situation and safely get away!
This is a physical class and participants will be expected to perform the techniques. Class participants must bring an open mind and positive attitude to each class.
Dress in appropriate work out attire.

Just a few reminders for all of you using the fitness center:
1. Wear clean shoes while using the facility. There are lockers to keep your items in.The fitness center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
2. Put away equipment after you have finished using it, especially in the weight area.
3. No children are allowed in the center without parent supervision if they are under 16 years of age. Also, if you do not have a family membership children should not be on the equipment at all.

Kickboxing/Bootcamp – Tuesday 5:30 am -This class will combine kickboxing, drills and bootcamp moves, Including: jabs, kicks, punches, and drills all focusing on arms, shoulders, abs, thighs and butt. This class will be modified for all workout levels. Class will be 45 minutes with an instructor and 15 minutes with a structured assignment.
Instructors Choice – Wednesday 5:30 am -This class will be rotated with 5 different instructors and include anything the instructor chooses that day. Class will be 45 minutes with an instructor and 15 minutes with a structured assignment.
Kettlebells – Friday 5:30 am – This class is designed to increase your heart rate. A certified instructor will instruct all with proper form and technique from beginners to advanced. Class will be 45 minutes long with instructor. Class will end with 15 minutes structured assignment for stretching and toning.
HIIT/Tabata – Monday 4pm- High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)focuses on just a few exercises that are repeated during the class time. Tabata is a method of training that uses 20 sec. of exercise and 10 sec. of rest consecutively for a total of 8 minutes. These two methods are going to be combined for a great calorie burning class. All exercise levels are welcome in this 1 hour class. We will work to make sure everyone is able to participate at their comfort level.
Couch to 5K – Monday 6pm – This class is for the beginner runner. This program will ease you into a running regimen. If you are already running 3 miles, use this time to increase your interval speeds. Basic Beginner Crossfit will follow your 5K training weekly.
Basic Beginner Crossfit – Monday & Wednesday 6pm – based on the popular Crossfit program taking place around the world. This class will introduce you to the Crossfit moves, modifications, and scale-backs needed to gain the most out of the program. You don’t need to be in the best shape to do this class. It will be tough, but doable for anyone willing to work hard (and be a little sore). In a fun setting so you can bring your kids if you have to. It will be at the kindergarten playground, and on rain dates at the fitness center.
